Hi everyone,

We are back in Barstow for our famous Oktoberfest. Come join us October 24th-26th for our traditional Oktoberfest mining outing. Registration is on the Placer Pete web site. We appreciate knowing your plans. Yes, we are opening own newest claim Candyland for you to prospect. You are welcome to scour the 80 acres claim as well as Placer Pete during this event. No membership is required to join us. Registration is on the

    Hi everyone,

    A quick update on our event. You are receiving this because you have asked to be registered with the Friends of Placer Pete’s Newsletter.



    Oktoberfest will have a few wrinkles in it this year



    1 – We are opening Candyland for your prospecting pleasure. If you are looking for a challenge this claim is for you. 80 acres of fun!

    2 – Saturday will have the usual Metal detecting lessons and events but drywashing will be “do as you please”. If you wish to have a course discussion on any topic just let us know.

    3 – Saturday afternoon will host a social event in the afternoon if you wish to join us feel free.

    4 If you are arriving early Thursday or Wednesday, we will an extra prospecting adventure for you, there is a catch however you need to be a GPAA or LDMA member or be with a friend of either of these two clubs to participate. If you want to join the GPAA or LDMA you will be able to at the event via the GPAA or LDMA web sites!

    5 – Our Saturday night meal is a potluck as always, but the host of the campfire will be a surprise!

    6 – We will have a New Sunday Gold hunt with the Placer Pete twists and turns!
