Outings are scheduled 6 times a year and are officially sanctioned by the Club. Get Togethers are offered for people that need more than just the six outings. Outings offer a free skill based hunt where one can learn the use of and put in practice a metal detector. Found tokens will be redeemed for gold dust. And if it can be sourced; a porta potty.
Hunts are held in a "field" clearly delineated. One hour is devoted to the search. After which tokens can be redeemed for prizes. Gold is provided as prizes by the Club. Your guests may participate once only, per the Club's Bylaws. My goal is that all the available prizes be found. The Hunt at Get Together is donation funded. The donations pay for the silver and will limit the total prizes. Please find time to have myself or other members help with the setup your detector and training for recover of coins. The hunt will predeed the Potluck on Saturday. Contact me if you need to arrange a loaner detector. Pulse detectors are prohibited due to interference with VLF detectors.
At both Outings and Get Togethers a donation funded breakfast ($6) Satuday/Sunday and a lunch ($4) Sunday are planed. A potluck and a camp fire will be held Saturday. Bring a dish. Reminders of upcoming events will be emailed during the week before the monthly Club meeting in Downey. And an announced wil be made at the Downey Meetings.
I will endeavor to include maps to the camping locations in the announcements. Please bring your friends and family. I and other members are happy to help beginners learn the the methods of gold retrieval handed down to us over the years. Come and learn by doing. No equipment, no problem. I have loaner equipment and arrangement with others to share a shovel, can be negotiated.
Your ideas for activities to make the events more fun and educational (especially for the kids) are appreciated. I am proud to say, we are a family friendly club.
Placer Pete events are hosted by the claim owner, Steve. You have access to Steve's claims as well as the Desert Queen Bee, and a vast open ground is nearby. Note: Correction for Placer Pete October Fest is Oct. 13th through 15th. They require registration and run the risk of filling up. Please register for Steve's Outings on:

Membership form will be provided for the Taft Prospecting Club. Membership in Taft Prospectors will be required for prospecting on Taft claims.
